Biography
Alicia is a seagoing fisheries acoustic scientist, with experience in the Southern Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean and Antarctica. She is involved in the use and calibration of various acoustic survey equipment (towed, hull and autonomous systems), the development of data processing methods and data analysis like target identification, modelling of fish target strength and biomass estimation. Prior to working at NIWA, Alicia was a fisheries acoustic engineer at Ifremer in France and was studying potential impacts of windfarms on pelagic ecosystems.
