About NIWA

Data loggers range from simple standalone recording devices that can be manually downloaded, to Internet-capable remote terminals that can push their data to a server that users can access via an Internet browser.

This is a special series of stories put out to the media in the 2009/2010 summer.

Cam-Era consists of a number of remote sites around the coast of New Zealand connected via the internet to NIWA’s servers.

Computer-controlled video cameras monitor the environment (for data collection and research) while simultaneously providing images for beach-goers, such as surfers and swimmers.
