IUCN CEM

  • The Ecosystem Management and Deep Sea Mining Group

The Ecosystem Management and Deep Sea Mining group of the IUCN CEM supports the aims of VentBase 2014 in bringing together multiple stakeholders to reach consensus on management and mitigation strategies for the mining of SMS deposits.

INDEEP 

  • The International network for scientific investigation of deep-sea ecosystems

DOSI 

  • The Deep Ocean Stewardship Initiative

INDEEP and DOSI strongly support the aims and efforts of VentBase 2014 to bring together different stakeholders to discuss future direction in the management of SMS mining. INDEEP will support the open access publication of any best practice documents from VentBase 2014. 

InterRidge 

  • International Cooperation in Ridge-crest Studies

InterRidge supports the aim of VentBase 2014 to develop a consensus on the management of SMS mining through engaging multiple stakeholders, and by encouraging international cooperation in ridge-related studies. InterRidge is supporting student participation at VentBase 2014 by providing two student travel bursaries.

SPC-EU DSM Project 

  • Secretariat of the Pacific Community-European Union Deep Sea Minerals Project

The SPC-EU DSM Project supports the aims of VentBase 2014 in bringing together stakeholders to discuss and identify management and mitigation strategies for the mining of SMS deposits. The SPC-EU DSM Project will promote best practice documents produced to Pacific ACP States.
