The team’s winning entry notes that sea-level rise and associated climate change effects is challenging the sustainable management of coastal environments and the legacy-built environment. Its award-winning 279-page guidance takes readers through a 10-step decision cycle - framed around a dynamic, adaptive approach to managing changing risk across a region and at the local scale.

Bestowed annually by the New Zealand Coastal Society, the Terry Healy Award acknowledges the achievement of a project which has made a significant contribution to New Zealand's coastal and marine environment. It's awarded in memory of the late Professor Terry Healy – one of the country's pre-eminent coastal marine scientists.
