Climate Update is a summary each month of New Zealand’s climate, including soil moisture and river flows.

June 2004 – Number 60

May’s climate: Mostly warm; wet in the north and east. Low river flows in the southern North Island and inland Southland.

May’s river flows: Streamflows were below normal in the southern North Island and in inland Southland.

Soil moisture levels: Diminished deficits.

Three-month outlook: Near average temperatures and normal rainfall for most places.
