August’s climate: It was drier than normal in Marlborough, mid Canterbury, and Bay of Plenty for the second consecutive month.

August’s river flows: August streamflows varied.

Soil moisture levels: Pockets of drier than normal soils were evident at the end of August.

Three month outlook: Warmer than normal in the North Island and north of the South.
