September climate – below normal rain in the north and east, but wet in the north and south of the South Island. Temperatures mostly above normal.
Outlook for October to December – Average or above average temperatures; lower than normal rainfall in the southwest of the North Island, and north of the South Island. Rainfall, soil moisture and stream flows normal or below normal elsewhere.
