New centre leader

Dennis Jamieson is the new leader of the National Centre for Climate-Energy Solutions.

Dennis has a background in engineering and the commercial application of technology. He is involved in energy and water resource projects in New Zealand and offshore.

The Centre recognises that human-induced greenhouse gas emissions are primarily the result of inefficient use of energy, and seeks to attack climate change at its source. Dennis plans to focus the centre on three areas: emissions, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.

If you spend much time with Dennis, you're bound to hear him talk about how vital communication is. 'Energy issues are complex and of major importance to individuals and communities, as well as to industry and government. Many of the current debates are confused by inadequate information. The centre is providing practical solutions to problems faced in the energy sector, but it also has a key role as a credible, public face of New Zealand science in this field.'
