Satellite Data Services
NIWA provides a subscription service of live satellite data for sea surface temperature, chlorophyll analysis and satellite cloud imagery.
The available products are accessed via the following links or, more directly, using the navigation menu.
Six types of satellite data products may be obtained from this site, with charges either by pay-per-view or subscription. They are:
- Sea surface temperature (SST) analyses on standard areas for the New Zealand and East Coast of Australia regions. Updated daily (Monday to Friday).
- SST analyses on private fixed areas (which are user-definable) anywhere in the South West Pacific region. Updated daily (Monday to Friday).
- Chlorophyll analyses on standard areas for the New Zealand and East Coast of Australia regions. Updated daily (Monday to Friday).
- An SST climatology for the New Zealand region.
- Monthly mean SST analyses and their departures from expected values over the New Zealand region. Updated monthly.
- Satellite cloud imagery. Updated hourly.
The pay-per-view service provides access to the latest SST analyses, while the subscription service allows users to access all SST analyses from the past seven to ten days.
