NIWA first started training in paua farming courses in the 1980’s and ran courses for over 10 years, supporting the industry in its early years. Many of today’s paua farmers learned the basics from those courses. The new course includes updated material, including discussion of the use of new technologies such as recirculating seawater systems.

The course provides the industry with direct access to NIWA’s cutting edge research in an area that is seen by many as the future direction for the industry. The course will cover NZQA unit standards 17254, 17253, 17252, 17255.
