NIWA’s Rob Murdoch wins Royal Society Thomson Medal

NIWA’s General Manager of Research, Rob Murdoch, has been awarded one of the highest honours in New Zealand science - the Thomson Medal - for outstanding contribution to science organisation and application. 

For more than 20 years Dr Murdoch has been a leader of major scientific projects that have put NIWA at the top level of environmental research and applied science services.

The Royal Society medal selection panel noted his inspirational leadership and said he has made a major contribution to the development and application of science to environmental sustainability and wealth generation in New Zealand.

The medal was presented to Dr Murdoch at the 2014 Research Honours event held in Wellington.
