Science Teacher Fellow Ailsa Webb – Research voyage to Jackson Bay
Ailsa Webb is a Science Teacher Fellow with the Royal Society of New Zealand. She has joined a voyage on board NIWA’s Research Vessel Tangaroa to Jackson Bay in New Zealand’s South Westland to undertake various research projects. This is her blog.
The alarm definitely came in use with an early morning start of 3am today. First things first, I take water samples from the CTD while Fiona does salinity samples. Then we prepare the CTD for its next trip down under.
It is a 4am, and it is a chilly West Coast morning. I am dressed in a hard hat, jacket and gumboots ready to collect our first set of CTD samples for the day.
