Managing Extreme Weather and Flooding

This course is for anyone involved in resource management or natural hazard management associated with extreme weather and flood events. The course covers how weather systems develop, the extent of hazards posed by wind and rain, hydrological processes and assessment of flood risks. There will also be practical presentations by users of river forecasting systems, social scientists discussing how people respond to hazards and a field visit looking at flood protection work in the Wellington region.
